We spent New Years Day hanging out in our condo with Junko and Bill, bringing in the new year in a quiet and comfy way. Junko and I had our tripods set up ready for the moon rise, which was SO quick between the skyscrapers. Both set up in the same spot, her Canon, my Nikon, both using telephotos, and both with similar shots -- but interesting to see how different the tones ended up being. The different tones give such a different feel. In Junko's image I felt as if the moon had triumphed over the steel and metal but I don't get that impression with these tones. Maybe it's just that also appears more distant. In both though - what an amazing setting for a full moon! Wonderful.
I like the way the moon dominates this picture putting the lights of the buildings in their place, and ofcourse the view through the building to the moon behind. Lovely shot - you didn't need the gym floor after all.
@redandwhite That's interesting, as to me a moon shot is 'over the buildings' unless it's summer and I'm living on Beaver Island. Then the moon shot is with a tree or the lake in the foreground. But I hadn't thought about these very different expectations.
This is fabulous, the view between the skyscrapers gives such an interesting sense of scale to the supermoon. Great work to capture this shot, shooting the moon is so difficult in urban areas.
Happy New Year, Taffy! All the best for you and your husband.
