Andie @ukandie1 and did an architectural tour of the Chicago Board of Trade building and it was fantastic! Right up there with The Rookery (if anyone is visiting the city). One of the highlights was being able to see the (no longer in use) safe where they used to store not only individual boxes, but huge amounts of silver when it was being traded. The door was huge and thick, with a few steel 'cage' doors to pass through before entering.
Amazing. Great detail, b and w conversion, leading of the eye deeply into and around the shot and then there is the eye being taken in through the gate, through the safe door, through another gate and then through a window. Brilliant Taffy. You are such an amazing photographer
What a fascinating place, I really must come and visit Chicago sometime. You and ukandie's photos are the best tourist advert! This reminds me immediately of Thunderbirds and Batman and all those old cartoon classic with the safe behind caged doors. Just peeking round the corner to see if the baddies are there trying to rob it!
What a fabulous B&W image Taffy!! So interesting to see this!! I will definitely have to put this on my list of places to see when I come over next time. Yes there will be a next time!! LOL!! Fav of course!!
i had a similar photo from one of the old bank buildings turned into a hotel/condo here in toronto. it feels kind of weird and exciting, isn't it, to see such a place, the door alone was as wide as my stretched arms and i tried to move it and i barely moved it a millimetre. i know the job of keys-keeper is a hard one as i worked in a trading house back in the old country and the small room/safe was as imposing with the bars and the thick metal door, and to memorize which keys go where as well as combinations was a daunting task not to mention the enormous responsibility. aces on this pic, miss taffy.
that circular doorway is a great feature. You do such a good job with these architectural shots. I am hoping that one day, I will be able to visit Chicago, and I shall use your photos as a planning tool so that I know where to visit!
Wonderful composition and pov, I like the way the circular doorway contrasts with the straight lines. You've conveyed the depth so well I feel like I can almost walk right into the image.
Would you mind sharing your workflow on an image like this and what programs you use? And is it a one exposyhdr or bracketed. It blows me away in its perfection
Spectacular capture and processing. I think I'm missing out on these CAF tours that you and @ukandie1 are taking . . . Maybe I will work up the energy to join you. I've been buoyed by the meetings with @caterina and @dominicododaro and am slowly making my way back to photography. I hope.
@jyokota I am pleased to hear that you have been buoyed by your recent trip to Italy. I know you will join us when the time feels right for you. I shall look forward to seeing you then!
