What should have happened -- take everyone to ferry, say good-bye, return home, sigh. What did happen...
10:30 a.m. Take family & guests to ferry to see them off, stopping at laundromat to wash large quilts
11:20 a.m. Ferry departs...return home, picking up wet quilts, to continue laundry and cleaning
11:30 - 4:00 p.m. Laundry, laundry, laundry, dishwasher, deck sweep, more laundry
4:00 p.m. Phone call from ferry riders...Bridge in Charlevoix is broken (they should have been calling from Chicago by then), and they are still on the ferry
5:00 p.m. Ferry may turn around and come back as they can't get under bridge to dock
6:00 p.m. Ferry turns around
8:20 p.m. All return, having had nothing to eat but vending machine stuff. Lots of unhappy campers.
8:30 p.m. Make the best of it at Shamrock Bar
10:00 p.m. Return to house to sleep, setting alarms for 3:00 a.m. to call to see if boat will run if bridge has been fixed
Bridge had been fixed, special ferry will leave at 5:20 a.m.
4:30 a.m. leave for ferry, drop off everyone at boat, return home, sleep til noon. Return to re-doing laundry of sheets and towels...cleaning bathrooms...such fun, loving getting to do it two days in a row!
At least they all saw a beautiful sunrise this morning, a rarity for teenagers!
And all your bedding in the wash.....I daren't think about it! My horrid is to strip the B&B beds & then have them ring up for another night! At least I get paid! You will be shattered but I just live your chairs just waiting for a tired body to collapse in them
The joys of grandparenting. Lol. Loved your time line. I love this scene. I hope by now you are sitting in those marvelous chairs and relaxing. Great job, Grandmother! Even though I have to say from the photos of you I have seen on 365, you are the youngest grandmother I know! 😊
So lovely and serene looking. I really like the reflections, too. Oh no, it sounds like you had a very busy day from what you were expecting. I hope you will be able to catch up on some sleep.
What a saga you poor people. I go weak at the knees at the mere thought of doing all that laundry twice, you deserve a medal. Enjoy your rest on those chairs.
Oh no you couldn't have made it up Taffy!! What a shame you had already done the laundry!! Bad enough having to do the clearing up once but to have to do it twice!! This is such a peaceful image - the opposite of your chaotic day and night!! I love those chairs - I want a couple. Fav of course!!
Such a peaceful shot and a story from Hell...how much I hate doing laundry and all of it two days in a row and when I imagine you were more than ready to rest and sit in those inviting chairs
Fabulous shot.
