Doing a bit more processing of NYC photos. The main library has a display of the original toys that belonged to A. A. Milne's son, Christopher -- Christopher Robin of the much loved book. Pooh Bear lives in the forest painted beyond and is surrounded by his pals, Eeyore, Piglet, Kanga, Roo, and Tigger. I loved the stories as a child - the stories were favorites for my mother to read to my brothers and me (and later to her grandchildren). Weirdly, it was quite moving to see all the originals together.
Thank you for your many positive comments on my night view shot last night. As several suggested, a totally different night view than on Beaver Island!
A lovely image of a vintage bear who became so famous. It is interesting that the real Christopher Robin donated all of the characters from the Pooh Bear stories to the editor of the books who then donated them to library. Apparently he did not want them to be commercialized.
This is a display i would love to see too :) This original Pooh is so precious and you've captured him well :) Looks like he is a Steiff bear too. I hope you post the whole collection! fav
What a transformation. Reminds me of a visit to Northern California. Saw the original state flag. The flag had a wart hog looking thing on flag versus the brown Bear I’ve grown up to. Nice to see the original Pooh
Sweet shot, I had a teddy bear very similar, he growled when you pulled a string, needless to say the string didn't last too long as it was used so much
Oooooo, lucky duck you. I'd love to see the original Pooh. I too was brought up on Pooh and the two little books of poems. They still come to mind even now in my OA.
I'm like Marnie- we read about Christopher Robin's adventures with Pooh quite often- I even have the books still! And I have his poetry too- which like Marnie also comes up in my mind a lot! Plus- I have a tendency to say, "Oh bother!" when I'm frustrated- thank you very much Pooh!
