@jgpittenger Trial and error. I use Aperture preferred and do one shot, which usually has the sun blown out. Often I’ll use spot metering. Then, I do a second shot on manual reducing shutter speed quite a bit. Then, work up from there to get the least blown out (a little is okay as you can reduce highlights a little in LR without it turning gray). So, for this shot, I ended up taking about 7 at different exposures, and this had the most to work with in the shadows with the least amount of blown out sun.
