Summer in Tanzania, on the morning before we left on safari, we were treated to the very clear snow-capped mountain. Just knowing it was Kilimanjaro felt quite magical.
Just filling in some gaps from the beginning of our trip - no need to comment.
crikey, I think a friend of mine climbed that mountain a few years ago - fundraising for the British bowel cancer association after his wife died on bowel Ca..
No wonder you enjoyed your time in Tanzania!!! What a view. BTW, I think 'Snows of Kilimanjoro' was the title of a long-forgotten film that was showing at the cinema near where I lived.
@golftragic Thanks! I think it's the title of Hemingway's book, which then was made into a movie. At least, that's what I was thinking when I totally plagiarized his title without attributing credit! Here's the summary from an online source (glad our experience was nothing like the book!!):
"The Snows of Kilimanjaro Summary. Stranded on safari in the African plains, Harry apologizes to his wife Helen for the stench of the gangrene eating its way up his leg. The two of them watch the carrion birds that have encircled the camp, waiting for his death."
Totally gross as I think about the scavengers surrounding animal kills that we saw over the 12 days!
