Thank you for your kind wishes for a good safari. and for putting lion/warthog on PP. This is truly a photographer's paradise! This scene was late afternoon of our first day in Tarangire National Park. This park is filled with elephant family units -- about 400 elephants in all. I suspect this upcoming year will be filled with posts from this trip. Choosing one highlight for each day is a fool's errand!
After three long and full days including game drives, visit to a Maasai village, and taking in street scenes as we changed parks, we took a useful break this morning for laundry, battery charging, and relaxing. I've literally deleted a few hundred photos that will not be missed. Hard to restrain when there are photo ops everywhere!
For a moment there I thought you'd been in Sri Lanka, then remembered it was Tanzania. What a fabulous shot, and perfect choice for b&w. I know exactly what you mean about 'a fool's errand'. I came home with umpteen photos, many of which I'm deleting, but still leaves heaps. I'll be posting from our trip for ages. Looking forward to seeing more from your safari.
This is truly spectacular! I am sponsoring a little elephant orphan called Karisa and when I am over in Kenya, I will get to see him. I'm so thrilled to see your lovely photos and of course it gets another Fav from me
Well what a marvelous photograph!!! Not only are you a superb photographer, but you have an artist's sensitive judgement when designing your presentation! Your quotation is brilliant! Never had heard it, but will be writing that one down!
Congrats on this wonderful image at TT #1. How long was your safari? It sounded brilliant. I’m sure you would recommend it. Which travel company did you go with?
@shepherdmanswife Thanks! This has been incredible -- 12 days on safari, with 2 days at the end in Moshi (a cultural sort of thing we did on Kilimanjaro with a little hiking and visiting local caves, hearing about the Chagga-Maasi war, etc. Definitely interesting). This was set up so perfectly by the company we worked with, from lodging, to such a knowledgeable guide, to support on arrival and for departure (we're about to leave for the airport), to order of visits and where we went given the season. It's a small company owned by a husband and wife team, she from Australia and he from Tanzania. They really know the country well. They run a foundation as well to support women and children's issues here and a portion of the cost goes to that. Just totally impressive at all levels: www.africanscenicsafaris.com and the owners are Amanda and Simbo. I can't imagine a better company to work with. And costs were comparable.
Wow, such an incredibly awesome capture! Sure would love to go on an African safari one day. Must be a real treat seeing such beautiful animals and landscapes!
