Junko @jokota , Jan @jangerber (a new member to check out!), and I spent a few hours at the Chicago Botanical Gardens for the orchid show (thanks for your comments on yesterday's post of the welcoming orchid) and then a wander through the winter garden area. This sculpture caught our eye, and Junko pointed out the light bursts (thanks!). Check out their abstracts (and think about following Jan if so inclined -- she has an amazing eye):

Think of mine as the 'context shot' and theirs as the artistic interpretations. We had a great afternoon together!
Those sun sparks were so fun, right? Yours are captured so perfectly, too. Such fun to see our three from different perspectives. Mine originally looked quite similar to yours so the closeup that Jan encouraged turned out to be more interesting to link.
I think this is wonderful.....I wonder if I could ask you about the Z6 you are using. You are getting wonderful shots with it and just wondered if you have any further comment?
@rookynook I've been very happy with the Z6. I used it for drive-by and low light shots throughout the safari and since coming back, I'm using it as my main camera. I like how it's lightweight compared to the original 610, the quality of the lens (the 24-70 that I bought with it) is great. It feels good in my hands - balanced, easy to manipulate the various buttons and dials (a lot of positive transfer from the 610). At this point, I only see two drawbacks. First, it only has one slot so I have to be more careful about not forgetting to put the memory card back in and second, it has only a few lenses without the adaptor (the good news is I can use all my lenses with it including the 150-600 Tamron which I sent in for the firmware update). I am happier with the Z6 than I was with the Z7 -- more pixels but a slower camera. So worth the trade off for the shutter speed. Hope all this helps!
