I'm out of interesting flamingo shots from our Africa safari, so have turned to Calder's urban flamingo that dominates Federal Plaza in Chicago.
From Wikipedia - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Flamingo_(sculpture) :

Flamingo, created by noted American artist Alexander Calder, is a 53-foot (16 m)[2] tall stabile located in the Federal Plaza in front of the Kluczynski Federal Building in Chicago, Illinois, United States.[3] It was commissioned by the United States General Services Administration and was unveiled in 1974, although Calder's signature on the sculpture indicates it was constructed in 1973.
@maggiemae I agree! I just added a link and some wikipedia info as it's named Flamingo but one has to really use their imagination to see it, I think. More than I can do...
Well...I've always liked Calder's work however I tend to agree that it does not really make me think "flamingo" other than the curve is somewhat like the arch of their head. But if I didn't know the title of this piece, I wouldn't think of it as looking like the bird. And when I think of flamingoes- I think pink, not red. All that being said- love the shot!
Holy cow! Definitely the most unique Flamingo Friday contribution I've seen! I thought you had used selective color, but then noticed the details on the street - and that's when my jaw dropped. Love the variety and creativity that Flamingo Fridays bring.
fascinating Calder sculpture, but I'm struggling to interpret it as a flamingo too. I've even watched a National Geographic clip on flamingos feeding to see if they move in any way that reflects this. the picture is great
A really eye-catching photo! I, too, thought that it was selective coloring at first until I saw the colors in the small details towards the bottom of the photo and realized that it was not.
Great shot, but can not see any flamingo other than the colour although I think more pink when thinking about flamingos. wonderful shot for flamingo friday, nice to add a bit of difference
@maggiemae I agree - someone with a vivid imagination to have this as their interpretation of a flamingo! But it is a cool shape and fascinating to look at
