We did a day trip with a friend who has a motor boat to High Island, the island we see across Lake Michigan from our deck. In the photo (if interested) in this link, you can see this tree -- it's a tiny dot at the horizon below the sun. https://365project.org/taffy/365/2017-07-01
From our deck, it looks about a millimeter high. As you can see from this view on High Island, it's a gigantic cottonwood tree. In the 30 years we've been coming to Beaver Island, we'd never been able to visit High before (it's about 4 miles away) so it was pretty exciting to set foot on it. And a relaxing day on Lake Michigan as well.
Nice spot. One thing I love about 365 is the ability to see places all over the world in a personal way. My only reference to Lake Michigan is following "The Curse of Civil War Gold" on TV. Love the little dot on your other shot and to imagine this is the tree.
What fun to be able to set foot on the island after all these years! Beautiful image with the curve of the beach leading to the man! Wonderful to see the tree from your deck and then to see it close up. Love it!
