I met @ukandie1 to photograph Santa's Express -- an annual tradition which converts one of the elevated trains for the two weeks before Xmas. The train travels along different scheduled routes so with patience you can see it or even take a ride. Not a great composition, but hopefully it gives the feel of the train. What you can't see are the elves at each door - they come out and wave at each stop. What a wonderful idea, wish we had something like that. We have our usual December outbreak of strike action from the tram, train and airline workers but that's another story altogether.
@carla42 I don't now which station they used to film the train scene, but it definitely was filmed in and around Chicago. Good eye!
Just looked it up: The CTA's Randolph/Wabash L station closes for good at midnight Saturday, and with it goes a tiny bit of Chicago movie history. The station was featured in the hit 1995 movie “While You Were Sleeping.”
So we filmed this at Washington & Randolph is a block south of the other one -- and I'm guessing is what replaced it as it's the same track line.
