A treat today to see the Blue Angels team flying across our skies for about 15 minutes. It was tricky getting sightlines, but I was quite pleased to have several opportunities. This was from their last leg, flying south over Lake Michigan between the Hancock and Water Tower buildings. This was from the balcony (agh!!) but it was great having clean windows for the other directions!
nice! our snowbirds (the equivalent of these) had a fly past last sunday as tribute to the front line workers then flew all the way to halifax out east. they're quite a sight to see! aces on this shot, miss taffy!
Loookkk @UKandie1 ! She nailed the timing of this shot while were chatting away on texts. Good thing one of us lives in an amazing place to see such sights.
The Maine National Guard did a fly over the largest medical centers in Maine. But that means nothing near here. Great shot - to time it so well. Did you hold your finger down for multiply shots. That is how I capture things like this. Waiting till they are lined up is too late.
We loved them flying over our hospitals. They didn’t come close to our home so we watched them on television. My DIL stood outside at her children’s hospital and watched them fly over. So wonderful to see.
@stray_shooter Ah, you noticed the camera! I've found during stay-at-home, I keep one lens on the Z6 and a different one on the 610. For the flyover, I put my old 28-300 on the Z6 using the adaptor and the 150-600 on my 610. Someone had told me 200 mm would be plenty but they were totally wrong on this one! I needed the 600 to capture anything worthwhile, and the 610 is far better if I have to crop. I'm learning to appreciate each one for what it offers, which is nice for my 610 who has stop feeling as if I've rejected her.
@jgpittenger Oops..spell correct strikes. Sightlines is what I meant to write! Didn't notice my computer had changed it. Thanks for the comment, of course!
@taffy My D610 also seems to be feeling rejected. It's third in line after the D850 and D750. The D610 is the choice, though, when I pack up and go off on one of my motorcycle adventures. It stands up well to all of the abuse.
and rewarded.
