Looking In by taffy

Looking In

Walking home from the post office this evening, I passed this window. While it looked quite warm and inviting in its golden light, I thought it interesting that in b&w it wasn't about the tree but about framing and textures. What a difference color -- or the absence of those tones -- makes!
Update on the cookies...all are distributed except about 10 of them, of which 8 remain. Wonder what happened to the other 2?
Wonderful framing and patterns.

You're right -- it's layers of frames upon more frames and then shapes.

What a great idea, black and white does emphasise the framing and textures.

Wonderful - it is the framing and the geometric designs that take prominence in this shot - fav

Very interesting in B&W the tree not instantly obvious. There is a very subtle reflection from the glass too.

So sharp image with pleasing repetitions.

There's a lot to look at and take in. I'm not sure whether it would hold my attention for as long if it was in colour.

wonderful b&w shot. So interesting that it changes the subject

I agree strangely as I am a colour person but those shapes & lines specially if that amazing window don’t need any colour! Fave.

Nice lines and frame. I’m always attracted by the small portion of life that one steals passing I. Front of a window! Yesterday I erased a photo that I liked because there was a recognisable man sitting at the table. And that could not be considered street photography! Fav to you!

I'm not a fan of b&w but you are right in that I doubt I would have looked at all the lines, shapes and patterns if this was in colour.
December 23rd, 2020
Most definitely about the lines - that pretty much is what draws me to b&w
December 23rd, 2020
The lines and shapes are much more pronounced in the black and white version. I like the different repetitions of the similar shapes.

I particularly like the pattern on the inner window.

Cool capture and framing.

This is the perfect illustration of how color/black and white effect a picture. I love the black and white and its graphic quality. fav of course!

the b&w forces one to view the shapes and intersections here. It is all about the windows - and I love that one at the back.
