Multiple meanings for this image...we finally were able to photograph very briefly three sandhill cranes who were not hiding in the grass. Of course, they left as soon as they sensed us. We were NOT supposed to be able to photograph them as we should have taken off ourselves (Junko and me) for part 1 of the drive to the upper peninsula of Michigan for a waterfall photo trip. Instead we were totally fogged in (on the east side where planes come from -- you can see how sunny it was on the west side, until it wasn't). We are now waiting word on weather planes will fly this morning but assume not, so are preparing to take the ferry across, then drive the 8 hours or so to the meetup. Not as civilized as our original plan, but hopefully taking off this morning by plane or boat to the mainland.
