Visit to the zoo yesterday. He was hanging out in the sun and I think saw me photographing him. I always have such ambivalent feelings about seeing animals in captivity so can't help but project that he wishes he were elsewhere.
I find gorillas and apes in captivity bother me more than other animals. Maybe because I feel I can read their expressions more?
Other less humanoid animals, generally just don't look as miserable to me.
Fabulous capture, especially showing what appears to be his feelings of why am I here?. I agree with all the other comments on this subject, nevertheless this is a lovely shot.
Isn't he magnificent. I feel the same as some of the comments above. Seeing gorillas in captivity makes me feel so sad. I am sure he is well looked after though even if he looks sad fav
Wonderful photo. There are hardly any places in the world where animals can live undisturbed. This process can be slowed down, but at the moment it looks unstoppable.
I wonder if he has any concept of what elsewhere is like. It always makes me think when I see some animals living in squalid or unappealing environments, and others in such beautiful surroundings. Just like humans I guess. It isn't a fair world. How we wish it were so.
