I had to do it...create that third album. The NYC walk with Michael ( @michaelelliott) and Junko ( @jyokota) led to too many photos that I really do want to post, but I need to move on with 365 and stay with the program, photo a day, post each day. It will be fun to have this to post in occasionally. For the next few days, I'll add one of the photos from "the" walk.
FAV! Love how you got the very textured foreground with the beautiful skyline and the spectacular sky - all in focus. THANKS for teaching me so much about long exposure photos . . .
@jaynspain I don't know why exposure isn't showing up. I think because I stacked images. I am guessing but think this was the one where I combined a 30 second at F22, a second one for about 20 seconds, and a third one that went over 30 seconds that I hand held and counted using 'bulb'. I was having a lot of trouble with my camera not letting me set it for more than 8 seconds after setting it to 30. So I had to do a bunch using bulb, which is why I don't remember exactly.
Another WOW shot Taffy! Love it! I am amazed you could hand hold three long exposure shots and not move the camera! Surely when you merge the three shots the movement shows? I thought you had yo use a tripod for long exposures. Your night shots amaze me! Fav of course!
@pamknowler Oh. Not hand held. I couldn't do that without horrible shake for even a second. Had to do the shutter by hand using external shutter release and holding button!
@pamknowler So funny -- I desperately need my tripod since my hand is VERY unsteady!! I even use the remote shutter so I don't shake my camera as I don't have a gentle touch!
@taffy Yes I use remote shutter release to eliminate any shake. I really want to try a night shot like yours but am worried about going into town at night with camera and tripod. Mind you I can't think of any fab views in Wellingborough or Northampton that are lit up as they are in your shots. There was always more oportunity when I worked in London but I still felt very vulnerable with camera and tripod. Have to hire a body guard!! LOL!!
@pamknowler Laughing at body guard idea! But in essence, that's what I do in going with at least one friend. And only going to well lit areas likely to have many people around.
taffy, this is spectacular. lucky you for getting to take your camera to NYC. you've achieved a beautiful result. that sky is amazing and your reflections are beautiful. fav.
FAV! Love the tones and drama! Like I had said this particular spot is one of my favorites and so glad I brought you there for you to do your 'magic"! And now you have a feel for what I go through all the time - tons of great shots per outing and what to do with them all hahaha.
OK, I had to get into the sharing game, too. Here's mine, but without the drama of the sky or the fabulous foreground rocks or the wonderfully angled pier of yours, but nevertheless one that captured the beauty of the moment and seems to be a bit sparklier on the city lights. http://365project.org/jyokota/omake/2013-10-10
@olivetreeann Thanks so much for your views and comments tonight. I always appreciate them. The walk with Michael was very special -- he knows the city so well that we were able to get to so many wonderful spots to photograph. It really made a difference (thought I could hardly walk the next day, I as so sore!).
@archaeofrog I'm excited about our walk. I wish I could join you for the blue and golden hour -- we have a commitment for the ballet and I'd forgotten about the dinner before hand. But Daniel and Annette may meet up with you guys at 5:30 since they're tied up during the day. Dress warm! I'm thinking we'll start at Lincoln Park Zoo and walk down the lake to Millennium. If we get really cold, we can do some architecture stuff for Open House. I wore a down jacket (lightweight) tonite and was comfortable.
@taffy Yeah, I'm bringing a backpack. I'm spending the night at my sister's, so I don't have to bring a lot, but I figured she'd at least want me in a clean shirt the next day ...
