Walking home from an all day seminar, I ended up taking this photo as a backup. I'm one bridge west of where I wanted to be but the one that you see in the distance is now closed for renovation. i thought the sidewalk was open but it wasn't so I had an extra half mile or so to walk home from the seminar because of that detour. Looking up the Eisenhower Expressway (aka I-90) and the Blue Line L tracks.
Then I got home to realize I'd left my laptop and cord bag at the seminar meeting room. Got the car to go back and get it (and it was there and safe, thank goodness!). Came home and played with my new Danbo for an image in my main album ( http://365project.org/taffy/365/2013-09-28). Enjoying working with b&w this week. Think Danbo will be great fun.

Wow what a fabulous shot in B&W! Such clarity Taffy. Is this HDR? I know I wouldn't get this effect with Nik Efex Pro. I agree with Luretta great pov - you are showing Chicago off in a wonderful way which makes me want to visit - you should contact the tourist board! Fav!
Wonderful B&W processing! Love the lines and the scene. It would be interesting to compare the scene from this location to the location you thought you wanted.
@archaeofrog THanks Katie -- it shows the value of chance, I think. I was not even on a photo walk, and had my camera for taking photos at a meeting. And then ended up at the detour and annoyed that I'd added weight by carrying my dslr instead of p&s. And then, there it was -- my shot for the day! I'm glad folks have liked it!
@rachelwithey Thanks for the fav Rachel -- and comments on the more recent b&w. I am really enjoying learning more about b&w since it causes me to have to think totally differently about what is important in the scene. I appreciate your support, as always!
@taffy You're welcome Taffy. You know I am mighty impressed with your photographic journey. You have become a very talented photographer with an incredible eye. This shot is fab though a little dark so loses detail viewed small. When I viewed it large it really jumped at me. My guess is that you have developed it with the grad filter preset in SFX Pro?
@seanoneill Yes -- that filter and maybe pro-contrast as well. I know I used more than one as the contrasts were hard to work with. And it was really a 'backup' shot more than anything. I was surprised at how much I liked the lines and the span of the city when I saw it on the computer.
@danielwsc Thanks for the fav, Daniel! I put my lens right against the fence and then did a slight crop to get rid of the signs of the fence in the image.
