BW book club this week is about the 'normalcy' of b&w to show day to day life, still life, and so forth. When I saw these at Costco, I was struck by how these oversized trolleys/carts symbolize such excess that we find in the 'big box' stores. But also how taken for granted it is to shop there (I was there to get a roasted chicken for a quick dinner tomorrow as it will be a 13 hour work day). And in the end, processing them in black and white with all the lines and squares, they become something else entirely -- to me, sort of industrial art. Loving the way the bw book club has me thinking differently about the photos I'm taking.

Putting this in my favorites. Months back I posted a shot of carts lined up like these are -- a shot I still like, but the B&W here and the vertical lines in your background are particularly striking. Bravo.
Taffy this is a wonderful choice for the theme and I think black and white makes for a more powerful image than colour. Love the lines, so well spotted.
This works fabulously well in b&w, with great patterns. Had never heard of Costco till I was in Canada last year, when I stocked up with all manner of things!
Wonderful B&W image Taffy! Great lines and I love your description which helps us to understand your thinking! Congrats on PP - well deserved! Fav from me. I seem to be a day out in commenting! It must be these strong pain killers! Lol!
@steampowered@pamknowler Thanks Paul and Pam! I really value your opinions so appreciate the favs a lot! I was quite happy with this -- especially given that it was so unexpected to find something to photograph there -- I had my camera with me fortunately.
Now I see what your comment meant yesterday! I was trying to figure how that related to the fish head shot! This is a really strong shot- lots of energy passing back and forth with all those lines.
I saw this one the other day and forgot to come by to fav and say how much I just love, love, love this with the lines, the contrasts, the mundane subject. The composition is spectacular.
