For bw-fn-10, the final (for now) in the series of black & white focus areas that @newbank was coordinating. This about contributing to this fun thread: http://365project.org/discuss/themes-competitions/23620/black-and-white-fortnigt-no-10-the-final-and-favourite .
We're supposed to choose a favorite, but favorite was left quite open. So this one has some of my favorite elements: structure, architecture, subway/train subject, urban, a bit of grit, and symmetry. In an ideal world, there would have been one lone figure cross a block down. But of course, you don't have a lot of time or options when photographing in the middle of the street! The light was red behind me, at least.
This is stunning Taffy. I love the perspective. It gives me a shiver as I can almost see a malevolent robotic insect squatting over the city. Maybe I've been watching too much Dr Who, or it could be @andysg Dark Hedges image from TT that was used in Game of Thrones. Whatever, this is a fav
Sorry to see it be the final as I am just getting into it. I'm just beginning to experiment with bw (so easy with LR) and I love how you have made this look gritty and old (not a lot of true black or white). Yet every detail is clear. Love it.
This is wonderful entry into the last (for now...) b and w fortnight. Its a Taffy at her best I would say! That is some structure. suits b and w so well. Fantastic processing gives such a gritty feel to it. I did enjoy your summer shots but I am immensely enjoying seeing your Chicago shots again.
I have always enjoyed "under the bridge" kind of shots. You have caught some really excellent textures and lines. I think you have captured what you were looking for! :)
Awesome capture and leadingLines. You do black-and-white so well. I am so drawn to this picture I want to come and visit Chicago. A no doubt about it fav.
I've had a shot like this in mind for some time. It's only blocks away from where I've been scouting. Love the incorporated elements and am glad the light was red. This is great!
