A Good Idea Goes Horribly Wrong

Thank you so much for your wonderful comments, thoughtful suggestions for edits, and favs for yesterday's lonely ship at sea (or as Joan pointed out, 'at lake' more appropriately -- just less lyrical). Certainly better post processing than today's!
This started out as an idea for ETSOOI with its flower theme. I think this actually ends up insulting both the flower and the fly! But too much time spent on it, and I decided failures should be posted as well as successes when one spends too much time on it (as well as computer crash and actually having to do it all over again!). Cognitive dissonance meant having to go ahead and post. No need to comment as I have no idea what one would say about it anyway!
Processed using liquify and 3D in PS, then textures using Topaz Texture Effects, then trying to save it doing something in LR which I can't remember, other than cropping.
Next step in the processing...because...really no idea why: https://365project.org/taffy/special-photos/2017-08-09
One could say, "Hmmm...well...it's interesting!"

well, it makes me want to liquify and 3d things, so you can credit it with inspiring desire!

There's something very attractive and creative in this capture. Initially I thought the ring was a decorated chocolate doughnut. I like it..

This is very unique. I like it!

It's a cool shot, Taffy, and I liked reading your explanation.

I thought the fly was lugging a little brown bale of hay. Ha ha!

I light the light, clarity in this image. Great description of your technical knowledge :)

Oh sometimes editing gone wrong just becomes funky and cool!

It may be a mistake, but I the studied whackiness rather appeals to my whacy sense of humour. And the colours are good too, lovely bright yellows. Fingers crossed your computer's not playing up again, perish the thought.

Has potential, perhaps the ring could be in the green range rather than grey. Playing around is a good way to learn. I think that I might follow your lead about posting the 'not up to snuffs' and invite feedback. Maybe even a theme?

@joysabin A good idea!

Lol! Love your commentary and I can see where you were going. I bet at the least you learned a lot

@golftragic Computer's fine -- it's the Textures program that likes to usually after I've spent extensive time on a photo edit.

Laughed when I read your description. We don't progress without a few stumbles. If we do it was too easy to begin with,

I think it is great, very different too.

Great narrative -- I can sense your frustration ! but surely you have achieved an unique ETSOOI !!!!

Haha, love uour narrative and honesty :-)

good Dof, focusing and processing

Im not sure what to say - so you made me laugh saying you wouldn't know what to say. But, I am drawn to the bottom left corner and I think I would rather like the abstract result if you just cropped everything else away and presented that quadrant! having said that, what you have done looks immensely clever and sophisticated!

@taffy Bummer. Have you contacted Topaz support? I had a problem recently and they were very helpful.

Wonderful.

Tom
Wonderful processing in this interesting and complex image

@golftragic I think that's a good idea...I hadn't contacted Topaz, as it doesn't happen regularly, just about 1 in every 15 images. Frustrating...

Super fun edit! I like it a lot
