This may be my favorite photo ever. I've wanted to learn to create star trails and finally had the opportunity while in Tucson. I discovered Sean Parker, a professional photographer from the area who happened to be available for an individual workshop followed by a zoom to learn to use the software program for creating the final image. I took 206 photos over the course of an hour (using the interval timer on my camera). Then processed with software called StarTrax. I know I'll forget the steps so already am planning a refresher via zoom when I get to the island this summer!
Absolutely wonderful, I am so jealous as I have always wanted to do this, How an earth did you avoid all the hundreds of satellites that seem to get in the way? Hope you remember how to do it again - FAV
this turned out FANTASTIC and the skies are so clear. Did you not have any planes or satellites? Maybe you painstakingly took them out of each photo. StarTrax sure makes it easy putting all the photos together. LOVE IT
@lesip LOL! Yes, StarTrax did its best but I ended up using the healer brush in PS in teeny increments to get rid of the light trails from the planes. Very very very tedious!! Thanks for the kind words -- I'm still so excited about this image that I keep going to my computer to look at it!
I’ve never particularly liked startrail shots but this one had me thinking about it when I woke in the middle of the night. I think the placement of the tip of the saguaro pointing to the center of the trails makes it particularly stunning
@Weezilou Thanks for finding this oldie but goodie! We just did another workshop with the same instructor, tonight in fact, and will be processing to hopefully have a new take on star trails!
