Welcome to my series on "seeds from Tim's kitchen." This is a macro of chia seeds. I didn't know they looked like this close up. If you are not familiar with chia seeds, they are about a millimeter or two in size. I used my 35-50 mm lens with stacked macro tubes adding up to 52 mm to make the image.
I use the chia seeds to thicken an overnight cold oatmeal dish that I often eat for breakfast. I also made "chia water" once. It is just like it sounds, chia seeds and water. It was more fun to watch than it was to drink. The seeds continually rise and sink in the water. The drink doesn't taste much different than water, but it has these weird floaters suspended in it to give the water a strange texture.
They look like runner bean seeds to me, only miniature! Never fancied chia seeds. They seem to be very trendy lately but I think I will stick with enjoying your photo and the bizarre idea of floating seeds in a drink of water 😱🤗🤣
