"The Liberator"... by tellefella

"The Liberator"...

at the end of WW2 at Tocumwal RAAF base... hundreds of aircraft were chopped up and melted down as scrap ...this Liberator bomber is a reminder of those amazing flying machines...

this plane is quarter scale and displayed on a large pole outside the golf club...i had to remove the pole in the shot by a bit of halloween trickery and give it a b and w vintage feel....
Wow...what a great close up. So much detail Can almost see the color of the pilots eyes...but then this is in B&W so I guess that's not true! ha!

Thanks for the memories again John. You seem to find photos that bring back great memories! My dad was a mechanic in the Air Force and based in Darwin & PNG. I have his photo album full of many aircrafts that he serviced and crashed ones too! I'm sure there will be one like this :)

Thanks for the info - i did wonder how you got it!! There is a plane on a pole in a shopping centre near my son's place. I often think I should take a photo but the grand kids win out - maybe next time!! Great shot still :) @tellefella
