Welcome to Seattle! by teriyakih

Welcome to Seattle!

Some places have beer cans hanging around, Seattle has these. Had to avoid 5 of them in one 150ft circle today, and am quite angry that I had to avoid sticks to do my job dealing with plants and water.

**No politics please, just frustrated from the day's shoot/work.
As a born and raised true Seattleite, I apologize for Seattle's unlivable conditions such as dirty heroin needles strewn all over Seattle's streets, parks. Seattle was once known as the Emerald City of the Northwest...clean, functional, well managed, great public school system. Over the past 40 years, Seattle has turned into a dysfunctional, mismanaged city that seems to favor heroin addicts and other undesirables that bring crime, chaos over the hard-working, tax-paying, law-abiding middle-class. Seattle does not have a good future in my opinion. I don't talk politics on this site but what I've just described is no secret.

@seattlite I am from OR, and have roamed quite a bit, so I understand and I thank you for not getting into politics. It is just sad and frustrating that this was my focus, not what I set out to shoot.

Wow... so scary! Seattle is a beautiful city but the homeless situation definitely takes away from it.

WHAT! you live in Seattle? I just spent a week there and had a lovely photowalk with @stephomy and am sorry I missed knowing you were there. I'm sorry you have to keep avoiding these needles -- I wish our world was better at taking care of ourselves and each other.

I know the feeling. I often see them lying on the ground at the bus stop where my teenager waits for the bus to go to school. It's sad that I've had to coach her on how to look for them and avoid them. Like we'll be walking down a street and see a big pile of dried leaves, and I'll have to stop her from jumping in them by yelling, "Wait! There might be needles in there!"
