These two little girls were at the Indooroopilly railway station waiting to go into the city for today's ANZAC Day march. They were not afraid to tell everyone they were very proudly wearing the medals of their Great Grandfather. I am assuming the medals were awarded to ARVN servicemen by the then South Vietnamese government but I may well be wrong with their origins.
For the first time ever, I went into the city for the ANZAC Day march to try to get some photos. As it turned out, I needn't have bothered and could have just gone to the station.
My original idea was to get a shot of an old digger with his chest full of medals and I had one guy all lined up but just as I was about to take the shot, I thought "Hang on. I think I am older than this bloke" and I lost the urge after that. As it turned out, I thought these two beautiful little girls really represented what our diggers in all wars fought for and what ANZAC day is all about.
What a wonderful story and image Terry so pleased you attended the ANZAC day commemorations, we should never forget what they sacrificed for us, its so nice to see the little ones taking on the role:)
