Another attempt at a night shot of the Brisbane city skyline - this time from Green Hill.
Rain is forecast for tomorrow (WooHoo!!) and on the right of the shot you can see some showers which had just started to fall. A couple of minutes later and the buildings on the right were partially obscured. The light trail in the sky on the right is a plane heading into Brisbane Airport at Eagle Farm.
Best on black
Great night shot - I was wondering what was in the sky! I saw on the news that you are going to get ALOT of rain this weekend!! Welcome to a Melbourne Winter ;)
@gigiflower I thought you would like the forecast. The BIG difference however that we will have rain tomorrow and then fine and sunny again by Sunday afternoon.
PS Had another look at your supermoon shot and my husband said that the reason yours was grey could have been because the white balance was set on tungsten or something similar, or maybe that just because it was taken later in the evening. Mine was taken about 5 pm when it was still light and the moon is low in the sky at that point and apparently the colour is caused by dust in the lower atmosphere. The background looks black because I had the focus on the moon. When the moon is higher in the sky it is above the dust layer but should still have more of a yellow tinge to it rather than greyscale.
@onewing Hi b=Babs, Yes I meant to mention that with my shot of the moon over the city a couple of nights later, the moon was orange. Shots an hour or so later the same night were grey. So it is obviously the residual dust/smoke/pollution that shows up at low angles.
This is just wonderful - especially when enlarged for those details. I always envy big city night shots - (I'm in a town of 3600 - and nothing real large nearby) Hope you got your rain!
@milaniet And I envy you guys in the country who can just go for a walk and find 500 bird species, babbling brooks, rustic barns, lowering herds, rolling hills, big sky sunrises, big sky sunsets, big skies etc etc etc. The other man's grass hey?
I'd have to drive to Chicago to shoot a city scene like this. That'd be a four hour drive one way. But it might be worth it. Good night shot you've captured here. Is the white object on the right a ferris wheel? Perhaps the one Maggie was pictured in earlier?
Great Photo bringing back memories of my time in Brisbane earlier this year, walking along the river for my first serious attempt at some night photos. Will get around to processing them sometime soon :)
