Very lazy today so just a shot from the garden.
This cycad (Cycas Revoluta) came within a whisker of being dug out about a month ago. Many of this species of cycad in SE Qld have been attacked over recent years by the newly arrived cycad moth which lays its eggs in the cycad and the grubs then attack and destroy the new growth.
We have been fighting a losing battle with them over a last couple of years. We had had a gutful and were going to dig this one out but decided to give it one last chance. And this is what has happened.
Revoluta is a native of Japan. Just maintaining the numbers - don't bother to comment.
How could I not comment on both this very interesting stage in the plant's growth and your kindness in giving it a bit more time to show signs of life. Perfect title for this image.
I have to comment it's a fabulous plant. I have not seen anything like it. I'm glad you gave it one more chance. I hope it proves strong and continues to survive.
