See what happens when you ignore me.

Except for the pic of the juvenile being fed, I haven't introduced our family of butcher birds yet. I have been waiting for them to finish their after breeding moult. If they are trying to get your attention and you ignore them they have a number of tricks they use such as coming inside looking for you. In this case, the juvenile followed mum in looking for a feed - hence the beak open and if we had sound, you would hear the squawking. Please ignore the dishes in the drainer. Does this count as a bird shot?
Oops. I forgot about the evil eye shot on 13 Feb.

I think so. I can hear that baby nagging mum from here. What an experience having them come right into the house. I'm over joyed tonight. I thought our koala had left. But he's just a couple of trees up the road. I heard him calling again tonight.

Dishes in the sink looks just like our house...Poppo, for birds to feel welcome into your house says it all. A great shot mate....

Hope they don't leave droppings on your clean dishes :-)

I call it a great candid bird shot, it is so nice to have resident birds who are unthreatened by our presence :-)

@ubobohobo That's good news Margaret. Is there any sign of the eye getting better?

@leestevo @landownunder @nataliejohnson22 @hermann @tracelee Thanks everyone. The butcher birds and the magpies think nothing of flying from the kitchen window, through the kitchen and the family room and out the back door. One day someone is going to end up with a bird impaled in their forehead. I think I will have to go back through some old pics and collect all the ones showing birds inside the house.

This is the absolute neatest. Totally wonderful that they come right in and make themselves at home for a moment or two. I was going to ask if you've seen Jr. Butcher lately.

@lyndemc Thanks Lyndemc. We are often amazed by the trust our families of magpies and butcher birds have in us. We can do some pretty physical things while they are only a metre or so from us and they are totally unfazed. And yes, we see both junior butcher birds every day. The are still very timid.

It's a magpie that had the broken leg, isn't it. I think I referred to him as a butcher bird, which he likely wouldn't appreciate.

@lyndemc After I replied I figured that you probably meant the magpie. Yes he is fine. Comes in everyday and is very happily eating out of our hands. However, there is every chance that at some point in the near future the male bird will drive him out of the territory. I'm not sure but I think that will happen if the juvenile is a male bird. It is very sad when it happens.
