Plover and Chick by terryliv

Plover and Chick

In the middle of the 12th fairway, we came across a pair of Spur Winged Plovers - one sitting and another standing with a chick close by. Couldn't get too close as they are very protective and I didn't want to stress them out.
After I took this shot, this bird stood up to reveal another small chick that she had been sitting on. The chicks look to be only a day or two old.
A few weeks ago I posted a pic of a Spur Winged Plover at golf. This shot was taken on the same fairway and is most likely the same pair. The spur is very evident in this shot which has been cropped to blazes.

Great capture! I saw 2 parents & 2 babies near my sister's place, but couldn't get a photo. Now they're as big as the parents :)

The adult looks like it has lost its get up and go. The young one maybe has worn them out

Very cute, I'm glad you didn't hit them with the ball. Would that be considered a birdie? :)
