Poor Old Oxley GC by terryliv

Poor Old Oxley GC

Played golf today and the golf course (Oxley) is very near to Archerfield, one of the areas hardest hit by last Thursday's storm. Archerfield airfield was where the TV reports showed all of the light planes that had been flipped over.
We lost about 30-40 trees completely while dozens of others lost limbs. It was quite a mess.
I just noticed that I doubled up on one of the shots. Buggar
What a fantastic collage, it really shows the damage caused by the storm.

Wow! Some damage there! Great collage - but the 19th hole must have been a reason for doubling up :)

How sad, that so many trees were destroyed or damaged. That must've been some storm as trees don't generally give so easily.

Very nice collage. What an event. Well, at least you could still play golf.

What a shame for the lovely established trees, hope all the wildlife did a bunk for safer ground :)

You had some serious wind. Do you get big thunder storms and tornadoes in Australia. Pardon my ignorance.

Great collage Terry. Some of the rain would have been welcome but don,t need them wild winds. You could say you have a few more hazards on the course !!

@richardhoeg Tornados are quite rare - especially like you guys get. However, severe thunderstorms are a common occurrence across most of costal Australia. November is our main thunderstorm month here in Brissy and while we only had two (very low) last month, this one was a good one. Of course they are always bad when you get a direct hit.
You only have to look at the age of these trees to realise this one was stronger than normal.

Wow, 30-40 trees! It really hit that area hard.

Great shots you got of this devastation of that area. Wind storms sure can do a lot of damage.
