Day 8 - Kalumburu Rd

The sign says it all.
I would guess that the vast majority of Australians would not be able to point out the townships of Derby and Wyndham on a map of Australia. With populations of just 3000 and 700 respectively, they are small remote communities in the western and northern Kimberley and yet they were the closest pockets of civilisation to us - and we were a bloody long way from them also.
We are at the turnoff from the Kalumburu Rd to the Mitchell Falls as we retrace our route south to the Gibb River Rd.
This would be so perfect for the current theme on 365 for "journeys," yet it must be taken during the time frame. Those mileage signs are astounding!

It's really difficult for me to get my head around such vast distances. You were so remote!! What an adventure!!

Fabulous shot, it tells such a story. Love the trail of dust and people overseas can't get their head round the distances here.
When my sister came out here she laughed when we reached the Hume Highway and our sat nav said "continue straight for 280 kms"
