Oh how exciting that must be, I was not aware that it had to be done! I take it you are on a farm?

It didn't surprise me a bit. On chicken farms, they check the sex of the chickens.

@monikozi Is is a job, the Department of Fish and Wildlife monitor the salmon runs up here in the Pacific Northwest. There is a very delicate balance between them and all their predator's, man, probably one of the biggest threats.

@ludwigsdiana It was so educational. Not a farm, these are wild salmon! The good news is that in the last few years the salmon run's health has increased in a way that the farms aren't being used as much in the past. That is good news, the wild salmon are maintaining their numbers on their own!

@milestonevisualmedia These are wild salmon! Their numbers are up and they catch them in traps as they navigate up the streams and are counted and "checked out" to gauge the health of the species.
