Large toad stool and leaf

Please critique this shot for me. Is it too busy with all the leaves and forest floor debris? I feel like the mushroom is getting lost and I wanted it to be the subject in the photo. But I left the leaves in it to give it the Autumn feel.
If I hold my hand over the bright green/yellow leaf, it looks so much better. I personally would also like a bit more space on the top. I am by no means a good photographer, but in my opinion it just looks better.

I like the composition, mushrooms don't grow in isolation, they need the leaf litter. You chose a shallow dof ( more light, shorter shutter speed?) but I wonder if your photo was sharp all the way front to back, the fungi would stand out more?? Just my two penny-worth,

The toadstool is tilting to the side so to me not centre of attention but the leaf adds to the image as a forest floor scene. If the image was a little brighter the toadstool may stand out more. It looks like you had a good exploration of the forest.

I like the leaf as part of the composition.

@ludwigsdiana Thank you so much for your insights. I was afraid the leaf "stole the show" from the mushroom and you confirmed it. Yes, the crop is too close at the top, I think I can fix that. Thanks again for your time giving me feed back :)

@30pics4jackiesdiamond Thanks Jackie for taking the time to analyze this photo. All the forest floor debris was there and I didn't move anything as I thought it looked natural, but as Diane said, maybe the large colored leaf being the same size as the mushroom fought a little with it. I think you're very right about the focus, I left all the elements in the image, and shouldn't they get attention too by being in focus? I learned my camera will take successive photos to focus stack in my editing program! I just need to take advantage of it. Thanks for your time and good suggestion.

@wakelys Thank you Susan for answering my call for critique. The sun was shinning on this scene is why I took the image, but when I looked at the photo later, the strong light was on the leaf, not on the mushroom! I lightened the mushroom cap quite a bit, but it just doesn't stand out the way I wanted. I think I will follow your suggestion to see if I can lighten the image some more. Thank you so much for your feed back!

@danette Thanks Danette, I wanted the image to be of the "inhabitants" of the forest floor, and there are many elements there. I'm glad you like the leaf and the companionship it gives the mushroom. I so appreciate your comment!
