So I didn't know this plant grows in my area. My son pulled one to let me smell the roots, then smell the leaves...they both were familiar! What is it? :- )

You are both right! The roots smelled of root beer but the leaves smelled like lemon. I left the plant. I also have a sassafras tree growing! Love the leaves.
