Tattered...

I'm not sure what happened to this poor butterfly, but the ends of its wings are tattered and torn. It seemed to have no trouble moving from flower to flower.

Yeah, they sometimes take a beating. An unsuccessful meal for some bird, perhaps. You're in the southeast, yes? Probably an Eastern Tiger Swallowtail; one of my favorites. :)
