This isn't really a gravel pit, or a quarry. I was at a pet store and they have a place where you can get their own brand of kitty litter, serve yourself style.
This is a macro of the mound of (clean) kitty litter. I did play more than a little with the color vibrance, just to make it less of a uniform pale gray, and was surprised by how much color could be teased out.
