Firehouse Turkeys by timerskine

Firehouse Turkeys

Out on early morning errands with the Missus today when we spotted these wild turkeys (Meleagris gallopavo) in a field next to Chesterfield County Fire Station 15. These are the same turkeys we've been seeing for months in the vicinity of the airport. One of my first pictures of them was way back in June and it's at https://365project.org/timerskine/365/2020-06-17. For a long time there were only two, but a third has joined this mini flock (flocklette?). I first thought that they were hens, but with the backlighting (and nice poses) the red wattles of the two on the right, along with the featherless head, indicate they are toms. Whatever their sexes, they make for a pretty picture.
Cool shot,
