The Missus and I went out to visit our bald eagle friends at the nest in downtown Richmond, Virginia. I've posted about them several times since mid-March.
Just after I saw the nest for the first time in mid-February I contacted the Center for Conservation Biology at William and Mary. They have a map of all the eagle's nests in Virginia and this one wasn't on it. They actually flew over it and saw that there were two very young chicks in late February.
Today, the Missus and I saw the female (Jaimy) with one chick. We aren't sure if we were seeing one chick at a time popping its head above the edge of the nest (the nest is deep enough that most of the time we couldn't see any chicks) or if only one chick has survived. The CCB Director said they'd be flying over again soon and would check.
@dutchothotmailcom VERY interesting spot. I'm glad that we can get this view from one specific spot in between two buildings and glad I have a lens long enough to get shots like this.
