Mockingbird by timerskine

Mockingbird

When I saw this northern mockingbird sitting on a fence post and singing I stopped my truck and rolled down the window. It kept singing...until I raised my camera. It clammed up and just looked around. It gave me more than a few good poses, especially with the sun low in the sky. After I took a handful of pictures I lowered my camera and it started singing again. I really wanted a picture of it singing so I raised my camera to my eye and it stopped again. I thought I might be able to wait it out but after a while I gave up and put my camera down. At this point, it started singing again. That's when I came to the realization: It was mocking me.
Nice capture! Good of the bird to pose without flying off.

Your narrative made me smile! How perfect to describe the story behind this scene, which works well as a bird portrait even if not singing!

I love the mockingbird. Their catalogue of songs, their neat appearance, the way they flutter their wings and lift off into the air. A great capture.
