This great blue heron may be the same one I have pictured at the Virginia Beach Lotus Garden, on the same piling, at least once before (Heron in the Lotus Garden). The Missus and I see it there so often when the lotuses (lotii?) aren't in bloom that we have decided to call it Sandy because A) the Lotus Garden in on Sandbridge Road, and B) Sandy isn't a gender-specific name and we don't know if Sandy is male or female.
This is our first sighting of Sandy this season and the light of the setting sun was showing nicely on its breast feathers.
