Into the Wind

Huge winter storm today. Over 3 inches / 7.5 cm of rain between midnight and mid-afternoon, winds were 35 mph / 50 kmh sustained with 50 mph / 80 kmh gusts. In the face of all this, the Missus and I hopped in my truck and set out exploring as this is the first winter storm we've had in a coastal area.

As we headed towards Sandbridge beach we saw Sandy, the great blue heron that was the subject of my December 28, 2021 picture. Sandy was in a different part of the Lotus Garden, perched on a branch in the water, facing the wind.

This isn't the greatest picture because the exposure was long (the clouds were really darkening the sky all day) and the rain was so hard and being driven by the wind I took the shot from inside the truck, which was running so the windshield wipers would work. The disturbance in the water isn't the creek's current, it's rain.
