An ice storm hit Virginia. Well over 100,000 households lost power. State Police were reporting a record number of vehicle crashes and an entire Interstate was shut down. So of course there were photo opportunities galore!
We have a crepe myrtle tree in our front yard. Its buds were encased in ice. They made for a pretty picture but do not bode well for this spring's blooms.
Actually in the orange groves of Florida, to protect the crop when the temperature dips below freezes, farmers spray the trees with water and the ice actually protects them.
