River Otter by timerskine

River Otter

While watching Elvis, the belted kingfisher, we saw a large disturbance in the water. Upon closer inspection it was a river otter, feasting at the same aquatic smorgasbord that Elvis was.

In previous visits, we have seen muskrats and beavers in the same 1/4 mile (0.4 km) stretch of marsh. Mackay Island National Wildlife Refuge is a really special place.
