J F Kennedy Memorial, Birmingham by tinley23

J F Kennedy Memorial, Birmingham

This mosaic mural was commissioned by Birmingham’s Irish community and originally erected in 1968. The original was demolished to make way for a new road system in the city, but was recreated in the Irish Quarter in 2013.

The inscription on the right reads -

A man may die, nations may rise and fall, but an idea lives on.
All the colours. This pops! And I love the rust panel.

@mazoo @pattyblue @onewing @ludwigsdiana Thank you. I don't remember seeing the original as it was in a part of town that I rarely visited. I was really impressed, although it made me laugh that the write-up on the piece states that the current Mayor of the city at the time this new piece was commissioned is included in the crowd :D
