A new beginning

More than 25 years ago, I was given a ring and with that a promise. That ring has remained there ever since - a symbol of that promise, of love and of commitment. It represents a life filled with so many blessings and one for which I will always be grateful. Yesterday, through my tears and more than 10 months after that promise was broken, I found the courage to replace that ring with another. This one is a gift for me from me and represents hope, strength and a new beginning.

"we must be willing to let go of the life we had planned, to have the life that is waiting for us." Joseph Campbell
Beautiful symbol of your strength. Beautiful photo too.

So eloquently and bravely put Tracy and the quotation is perfect. A beautiful shot of a beautiful ring and all it represents.

I am sorry that had to happen to you, but glad that you are letting go and entering into the fulfilment and joy of a new life. Beautiful comp and dof here, a dof which symbolizes what you are doing and the way you are feeling--the old is still there, but fading into the past, and the new is bright, beautiful and in focus. Fav for me.

Tracy, it's a beautiful ring, not only for its sparkle and design but for what it represents; your hope in new beginnings and your strength to face the future. I am so sorry about the broken promises and the broken heart tho. You go, Girl, daring to be brave and move forward.

I failed to say that you took a beautiful picture of the rings. How symbolic that the focus is on the new ring and that the old ring is in the background, softly blurred. The tones of the image are gorgeous.

As for my xylophone image for 'X', my son was a part of the percussion section in band and I had access to his instruments which came in handy for this project.

Dear Tracy. I think I am not capable to properly express in English, how much I’m touched by this picture. Nevertheless I will give it a try. It is a wonderful capture, full of symbolism. You are so brave and I wish you all the strength you need to lo look ahead, and to take only the beautiful moments and the blessings from your past go in the future. Fav, from all of my heart. For the picture and for your bravery,...

Tracy, I'm so sorry that you, too, have experienced broken promises. Like you, I thought that "until death do us part" meant something until it didn't. Like you, I have a new ring to me for me from me to symbolize a commitment to myself. Like you, I have a quote to help me move forward - always forward. Unlike you, I didn't take a beautiful photo, rich with meaning and new hope. My wish, for you, is that you continue to do things for yourself that remind you that you are special.

Tracy the capture , writing and quote are all so emotionally charged and one that I can relate to as well - only mine was after 40 years!. A friend once said to me, "take the good things from the past and leave the rest behind" This I have done and now 18 months on I have wonderful friends , 4 children and 4 grandchildren who are my world. And 365 has become a new virtual friendship :) So pleased you have purchased this ring as a symbol of moving on - congratulations :) Fav

I agree with Nikki. Sometimes the first step is the hardest. Your new ring represents the first step in a new phase of life.

Your picture caught my eye on the Poplar Page and the meaning behind it touched my heart. I can't image all that you have and are going through. I always say never say never and hope I will have your strength if the unthinkable would happen.

I have walked a very similar path Tracey, and understand the symbolism of this precious gift -- from you, to you. I hope you find, and make, new memories every single day. The past is gone, the future is yet to happen, but being present is a gift. A fabulous (& strong) photo.
