This was last nights sunset from the end of my driveway. The beam of sunlight is not enhanced at all. It looked exactly like that. I did not alter or enhance the colours either. I did remove some noise and enhance the black at bottom. I jumped in my car to try to get to the lake but was too late.
Beautiful. I believe this is called a light pillar. I saw one for the first time this year and was awestruck by it. Wish I had been able to take a photo but I was on the bus commute home. GREAT capture.

A beautiful capture of a Sun Pillar. These are vertical streaks of light that appear above and below a low sun as it shines through ice crystals. Fav :)
@gilbertwood apparently you need to have ice crystals in order to have a sun pillar. I am guessing you don't get those in your beautiful, warm climate. :)
