Last week I told you about a foal whose Mother died at his birth. Theresa's mustang mare delivered the foal in the background today, and they put the amniotic sack around the orphaned foal and rubbed him with it. Then, rubbed some scent on his nose (I think she said Vicks Vaper rub or vasilene) to confuse the mare's sense of smell, and she let him nurse without rejecting him. I drove over today to see how things were working out and saw both of these foals, both colts, nursing together. Such a beautiful and moving sight. And what a blessing for Christie who lost her precious mare. What a good friend Theresa is.
A beautiful capture and an instant fav. I am working backwards so I`ve already seen tomorrow`s picture--hoping for a happy ending for the rejected foal.
