Sequoia, the mare on the far right, foaled last Sunday, a mustang paint filly named Aspen. The foal closest is the orphaned foal, who was running around when I showed up, now eating buttercups. He is happy and filling out. His mom was part Arab so he is a smaller stature than the other foals here, though they all have the same father. Everyone doing well, and it was fun to see them so frisky. Not in this shot as I was trying to get the whole grouping.
Oh how sad, an orphaned foal! We had a foal born in our back paddock five years ago, but sadly he had to be put down earlier this year. I never got to know a horse like I did "Baby Spirit." I've got pics of him in my project...somewhere.
