I'll Fly Away...When I'm Ready

While playing softball with the girls this afternoon, my brother-in-law asked if he could release this robin in my backyard. I went and grabbed my camera so I could get a few shots of him before he flew away. He even sat in the grass for about two minutes and cooperated for photos. He eventually flew away.

PP: 01.28.13

Here's an alternate shot after we placed him on the ground in my Cool Shots album: http://365project.org/tskipper/cool-shots/2013-01-27
Super capture,obviously quite a tame bird!!

@carolmw Thanks Carol. Not sure why the bird let him pick it up. But since they have dogs, they wanted to release him in our backyard. We were successful.

Bird in hand...Rare opportunity. Nice shot Tami.

Fabulous shot! He could have been stunned temporarily by flying into a window....that's happened here a few times.

@adamj Thank you, Adam.
@vskolnik Thank you, Vee. I think that's the only way I'm going to get a close-up bird shot. They have to be stunned! LOL!
@bkbinthecity Thank you!

He looks young and I think my dogs startled him so it made it easy to handle him. Glad we could save him and help you get those elusive bird shots!! LOL

I love this shot best Tami (although the other one is still very good) you don't often see a bird in/on someones hand. Your robins look bigger than our robins. fav

@nadaa Thank you, Nada.

@lesleyallen Thank you, Leslie for checking out both photos. The robins were all over our neighborhood yesterday. They looked huge compared to this little fellow.

@tskipper is probably correct about him being stunned by a window hit. Great to see he recovered and was set free. Great capture by the way!
