The BVCDC had aquired the old Ubobo railway station. While it was being restored, this one penny was found wedged behind the rail that supported the wooden seat built around the edge of the waiting room.
Closer inspection found the penny to be a minted in 1916. Given that the station had been built around 1920 it raised questions. Had someone involved in the building of the station place the penny there as a mini time capsule? Had it fallen from the pocket of an early rail passenger? How had it arrived in its hiding place? We'll never know but we've framed it to honour its link to the past.
